I’m a spare-time photographer.

Someone said that we make images rather than take images - I go along with that.

I learnt from Tom Heaton that it’s ok to go out to take a photo and come back with nothing except the memory of an enjoyable outing, and from Irene Froy that it’s photography my-way and that’s just how it should be.

That can be a bit tricky when I go out judging club photos - I hope that I’m positive and encouraging and that I offer useful, constructive criticism - who wouldn’t?
